According to the Turkish media outlets Sözcü and Hürriyet, the drone was found on the afternoon of June 19. Police officers who arrived at the scene examined the drone and determined that it contained no ammunition. The drone was sent to Ankara for a technical examination.

According to local news agencies, the drone resembles one discovered on June 14 on Kaspisuyu Beach in the Kurukashile district of the same province. At that time, authorities temporarily evacuated vacationers and stepped up security measures in the area where it was found. The ownership of both drones has not yet been determined.

As noted by Turkish media, the drone found on Chakraz Beach had been in the water for a long time and was discovered in a damaged condition. The drone is made of foam.

This is not the first such incident on Turkey’s Black Sea coast. In March, off the coast of Ordu, local residents discovered an unmanned boat, which, after examination, was deemed to be destroyed. In May, a drone crashed onto a city street in Samsun; later, several Turkish media outlets, citing sources, reported that the drone may have belonged to Ukraine.

In September 2025, an unmanned boat carrying approximately 300 kilograms of explosives was also found off the coast of Trabzon Province. Turkish media at the time noted the device’s similarity to maritime drones used by Ukraine in the Black Sea.

Turkish authorities have not yet commented on the possible origin of the latest drone discovered. The investigation is ongoing.
