
The campaign’s first video was released on official government channels. It highlights the benefits that the reform could bring to communities across the country. In this regard, President Maia Sandu called on citizens to support the reform that has begun.
“When administrations join forces, the quality of services improves, infrastructure is modernized more quickly, projects are implemented in villages, and living standards rise. Villages remain for the people. Traditions remain the same. The only thing that changes is the ability of local governments to do more for the community,” she noted.
The president called on citizens to join the campaign to learn more about the proposed changes and their impact on the communities where they live.
According to the authorities, the local public administration reform aims to strengthen the administrative capacity of local governments and build stronger communities capable of providing quality public services and attracting more investment and development projects.
The idea is that local development can be accelerated through more efficient use of available resources.
According to data presented by Government Secretary-General Alexei Buza, more than 790 city halls have so far decided to voluntarily merge.
