The members of the parliamentary commission for foreign policy approved an advisory opinion on the launch of negotiations with the European Investment Bank (EIB) on the conclusion of a loan agreement worth 40 million euros. Besides the EIB loan, the project will benefit from a grant support of 2 million euros through the Neighborhood Investment Platform, with Moldova’s contribution amounting to 8 million euros.
The funds will be used to upgrade the school infrastructure in line with the European Union standards. The project envisages improvement of energy efficiency of buildings and development of digital educational environments.
According to the Ministry of Education and Research, which developed the project, 20 educational institutions in different regions of the country will benefit from modern, safe and inclusive conditions adapted to the actual needs of students and teachers.
The planned investments cover energy efficiency, digitalization and redevelopment of educational spaces with a total area of more than 200,000 m². These measures will improve the learning environment, make schools more attractive and facilitate access to quality education, especially for children from vulnerable communities.
