The development of cultural exchange, popularization of literature, organization of film festivals and support for cultural institutions were among the main topics discussed in Ankara by Moldovan Ambassador to Turkey Oleg Serebryan and Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.

According to the Moldovan embassy in Ankara, the officials analyzed the possibilities of strengthening bilateral relations in the culture and tourism sector, stressing the potential of joint initiatives that would make use of the cultural heritage and identity of both states.

Special attention was paid to the promotion of cultural exchange by supporting programs of translation and publication of literary works from Moldova and Turkey. This initiative is seen as an important tool to popularize the cultural heritage and deepen mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.

The officials also discussed the organization of Turkish film festivals in Moldova and Moldovan film festivals in Turkey, projects that would contribute to the development of modern cinema and cultural dialogue between the two countries.

During the meeting, Ambassador Oleg Serebryan also touched upon the support of cultural institutions in the Gagauz autonomy, including the D. Tanasoglo National Theatre, stressing its role in preserving and popularizing the Gagauz language and culture.

At the end of the discussions, the sides expressed their willingness to maintain a permanent dialog and facilitate the implementation of new cultural and tourism initiatives.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Turkey were established on February 3, 1992.
