The appeal followed numerous complaints from transportation companies, travel agencies and tour operators, who complain about congestion at the customs posts of Leuseni Albita, Sculeni Sculeni, Cahul Oanca and Giurgiulesti-Galati. According to them, this seriously affects tourist programs and the quality of services provided to travelers.
APIT representatives note that the situation has become even more critical due to the implementation of the European Entry/Exit System (EES), which implies additional digital registration and verification procedures at the external border of the Schengen zone. The association is particularly concerned about organized groups of children and schoolchildren, who often travel to Romania for educational, cultural and sporting purposes and are acutely affected by these delays.
“APIT is not asking for deviations from established border control procedures, but insists on finding practical, predictable and European solutions to efficiently handle organized tourist groups, while fully respecting security norms. Organized tourism needs mobility, predictability and institutional cooperation,” the association said in a statement.
The corresponding appeal was submitted to the Moldovan Ministry of Internal Affairs.
