
The suspension of import duties will apply only to those products that are not already imported into the EU duty-free from countries with preferential access under the most-favored-nation (MFN) regime. To protect the interests of European fertilizer producers, the measure is limited to a quota of products equal to the volume of imports under the MFN in 2024 plus 20% of the volumes imported from Russia and Belarus in the same year, Bloomberg reported.
The suspension of import duties will not apply to products imported from Russia or Belarus. The European Commission is expected to monitor the situation on the fertilizer market and, if necessary, propose to extend or change the new customs regime.
