Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce
According to Forbes, the cost of organizing Taylor Swift’s concert at Madison Square Garden in New York could have ranged from $20 million to $30 million. Some industry experts cite even higher figures, RBC reports.
The celebration took place on July 3 and drew about a thousand guests. For the event, Madison Square Garden was transformed into a large-scale venue featuring live trees, floral installations, and elaborate decorations. Due to the event, New York City authorities temporarily restricted traffic on adjacent streets, and security was provided by reinforced police patrols.
However, the final cost of the wedding remains unknown. As noted by Forbes and Business Insider, estimates for such events vary significantly, as some analysts consider only the costs of the ceremony and reception, while others include venue rentals, guest accommodations and flights, decor, security, transportation logistics, and related municipal expenses.
Security costs, in particular, often become the largest budget item. According to Business Insider’s calculations, approximately 94% of the expenses for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding were attributed to security measures and public order management. The budget also included preparations for the city’s infrastructure, street cleaning, and other expenses associated with hosting a national-scale event.
Weddings of global celebrities often become events that impact the lives of entire cities. Venice, which hosted the wedding of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and TV host Lauren Sanchez, faced heightened security measures, traffic diversions, and protests from some local residents. According to Business Insider, a similar situation occurred in New York during Swift and Kelsey’s wedding celebrations, when restrictions around Madison Square Garden disrupted the transportation system and caused difficulties for passengers.
