This was reported by RBC with reference to RIA Novosti. In an interview with the publication, Rodney Cook himself said that he plans to attend the plenary session, where Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to speak.

“The organizing committee of the forum and the U.S. State Department confirmed that I am invited to the plenary session and the speech of President Putin. And I will attend it,” the commission representative said.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum has been held annually in St. Petersburg since 1997. It serves as one of the main platforms for discussing key economic issues, attracting investment and developing international cooperation; it is organized by the Roscongress Foundation.

The forum’s business program includes more than 150 sessions on three main tracks: transformation of the global economy and new formats of international partnership, search for a new model of growth of the Russian economy through industrial policy and support of entrepreneurship, as well as issues of technological leadership, including artificial intelligence, robotization and digital sovereignty.

SPIEF-2026 will be held in St. Petersburg from June 3 to 6.
