During the past week, the imbalance between available free tonnage of vessels and supply of cargoes for transportation aggravated in the segment of Kosters – small vessels used for cargo transportation along coastal routes. This forced shipowners to concede on price. As a result, freight on “kosters” for grain transportation from Ukraine decreased by 1-2$/t (depending on the direction). This is reported by Latifundist with reference to ASAP Agri.
Currently freight department of Atria Brokers estimates freight of “kosters” segment for shipment of 6 thousand tons of corn from Ukrainian Danube ports to the eastern coast of Italy at 41-42$/t.
