This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of the Ministry of energy.
The operator of the Ukrainian gas transportation system (OGTSU) has received approval from the NKREKU to expand capacity on the interstate connection with Poland. The Polish regulator (URE) has also granted a simultaneous permission for the implementation of this decision.
The project envisages auction-based gas allocation. The joint auction of the increased capacity will take place on July 6, 2026 on the GSA (Gas System Auctions Platform). It provides for the allocation of two tiers: 6.98 million cubic meters per day (in gas years 2030/2031 to 2044/2045); 10.20 million cubic meters per day (in gas years 2032/2033 to 2046/2047).
Further steps will depend on the results of the auction and passing the economic test. If market demand is confirmed, the Ukrainian OGTSU and the Polish operator GAZ-SYSTEM will move on to the practical phase – the development of the relevant infrastructure.
It is noted that increasing capacity in this direction will expand access to the European gas market. It will also reduce dependence on risky supply routes and improve the reliability of the energy system under war conditions.
