In Moldova, a decrease in the number of issued construction permits was registered in the first quarter

In the first three months of 2026, 586 building permits were issued in Moldova, 3.5% less than in the same period last year, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said.

According to an NBS press release, the number of rural building permits issued fell 7.5% year-over-year to 54.8% of all building permits in the first three months of the year.

The number of building permits issued in urban areas increased by 1.9% year-on-year and accounted for 45.2% of all building permits issued in the first quarter.

In the first three months of 2026, compared to the same period in 2025, the number of residential building permits decreased in the northern, central and southern regions, as well as in Gagauzia. In contrast, the Chisinau region saw an increase in the number of permits.

As for non-residential buildings, in the first quarter the number of permits decreased in the northern and central regions, as well as in the Chisinau region, while in the southern region and Gagauzia there was an increase.
