On July 1, 2026, changes will go into effect to eliminate customs duties on most goods imported from the United States.

The Moldovan Parliament approved in the second and final reading a draft law that amends the Law on Approval of the Combined Commodity Nomenclature. The document envisages liberalization of imports of American products and simplification of access to American technologies and equipment.

As Logos Press previously reported, customs duties will remain only for certain sensitive categories of agricultural products – beef, pork, poultry meat, milk and dairy products, as well as sugar and sugar products. It is noted that the volume of imports of these goods from the U.S. remains insignificant.

“The goal is for Moldova’s economy, economic agents and citizens to have easier access to the American technological resources,” Radu Marian, chairman of the commission for economy, budget and finance, said.

Earlier, MPs from the PAS faction Adrian Belucel, Andrian Keptanaru and Radu Marian visited the United States, where they informed the American partners about the decision. “The American partners appreciated this step, especially in the context of the application of the lowest level of tariffs by the USA to Moldova,” Marian said.
