This is the largest drop among all major sectors of the economy. In comparison, the IT sector added 89% of new companies, real estate added 24%, and retail added 26%.
In general, the structure of new registrations shows a shift of business activity towards “numbers” and services, while traditional industries, including the agri-food sector of the Ukrainian economy, show either weaker dynamics or decline.

Not all bad
At the same time, in terms of closures, the situation in the agricultural sector looks more stable. In the first quarter, 44 agro-companies ceased operations – this is at the level of last year.
Against this background, other sectors show more dramatic dynamics: for example, in transportation and logistics the number of closures increased by 147%, in construction – by 58%.
In general, the data indicate an uneven pressure of the multilevel crisis on the economy: new business is more active in the “fast” sectors, while the agro-sector and processing are still losing momentum.
