The budget deficit in 2025 reached almost 16 billion lei

The execution of the state budget for 2025 ended with a deficit of 15,712.4 million lei. This is 2,499 million lei lower than the adjusted indicator, but 2,623 million lei higher than the previous year, Logos Press reported.

According to the Ministry of Finance, as of December 31, 2025, total revenues amounted to 76,380.7 million lei. They are 14% higher than the same indicator for 2024. And also higher than the planned one at the last adjustment by 577.6 million lei (+0.8%).

The revenues from taxes and fees amounted to 75,393.5 million lei. They were 14.1% higher last year than in 2024. And revenues from projects financed from external sources exceeded those collected in 2024 by 12.7% (+111 million lei) and amounted to 987.2 million lei.

The revenues administered by the State Tax Service were recorded at 33,796.1 million lei. They exceeded those collected in 2024 by 15.7%.

The revenues of the Customs Service reached 41,150.5 million lei against 38,276.9 million lei accumulated by the authority in 2024 (+7.5%).

Other revenues amounting to 5,615.6 million lei were 69.1% higher than in 2024.

State budget expenditures and non-financial assets amounted to 92,093.1 million lei. Compared to 2024, they increased by 15.0% (12,023.0 million lei). However, they fell short of the plan set during the last adjustment by 2%, or by 1,921 million lei.

The budget deficit was financed from internal sources in the amount of 10,853.5 million lei and external revenues in the amount of 4,211.4 million lei.

Changes in the cash balance were recorded in the amount of 647.5 million lei.
