According to the Slovak edition Aktuality, cited by RBC-Ukraine, during the meeting the politicians discussed key issues of the country’s domestic and foreign policy. According to Pellegrini, the conversation showed that “the three top constitutional figures can openly, constructively and pragmatically discuss all topics related to Slovakia’s interests”.
The sides agreed that Slovakia should be represented in the negotiations of the so-called “coalition of the resolute” on Ukraine.
At the same time, Bratislava’s position remains unchanged: the country will not provide Ukraine with military support, send soldiers there and participate in the EU loan guarantees for 90bn euros.
Earlier, Prime Minister Robert Fico criticized the meeting of the “coalition of the resolute” in Paris, but said that he would allow Slovakia’s participation in monitoring the peace agreement if it is concluded.
In addition, Robert Fitzo unexpectedly declared his support for Ukraine’s European integration aspirations, at the same time emphasizing that he opposes its accession to NATO.
It is also worth noting that intergovernmental consultations between Ukraine and Slovakia took place last October. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Sviridenko and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation.
