The kindergarten is attended by 130 children from Pascani, Manta, Crihana Veke and Cahul municipality. Despite the complete reconstruction of the institution, electricity consumption remained very high, resulting in significant costs for the local budget.
“The building was completely renovated, but the energy consumption remained very high. Therefore, we thought of bringing in a project that would provide an additional source of energy,” said Violeta Hincu, the mayor of Manta municipality.
The solution proposed was the installation of a 24 kW photovoltaic system on the roof of the building. The project was implemented in 2023 within the framework of the “DAR 1+3” program, with the support of the German government and the Diaspora, in partnership with the local association Acasă cu Dor and the Diaspora Relations Office. The total investment amounted to 602 thousand lei.
The savings achieved through the installation of the photovoltaic system allowed for additional investments in energy efficiency and modernization. Thus, recently, 255 LED ceiling lights were installed in all groups and rooms of the kindergarten, six energy-efficient air conditioners were purchased, and the institution’s kitchen was additionally equipped.
“There were times when it was cold and we heated with stoves. Now we have light, heat, and it is cool in summer. We used to save on electricity, and now we can work in normal conditions,” said Svetlana Miroznichenko, a teacher.
In addition to the economic benefits, the project also contributes to reducing environmental impact by reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
