The director of the enterprise, Romeo Vatre, said that this site will accommodate buses connecting the airport with various cities in Romania and Moldova, as well as cabs that do not have a parking permit on the airport’s territory.

The design and execution of the works will be completed next year, and the new parking lot will be put into operation in 2027, Romeo Vatra said.

“We will create a separate parking area dedicated to public transportation, where buses, shuttles, vehicles offering alternative modes of transportation such as ridesharing, and cabs that are not allowed to park in front of the terminals will park. We are currently working on the documentation. Next year we plan to start the procurement procedure for the design and execution of the works, and it [the new parking lot] could be operational during 2027,” Romeo Vatra wrote on social media.

At the beginning of the year, the Iasi airport administration said that in 2024 the passenger traffic through the air harbor amounted to 2.2 million people, of which about 33% were passengers from Moldova.
