A strong global grain harvest will fully offset the lowest stocks of this critical food category in a decade.
In a new Grain market report published on November 20, the IGC Board increased its forecast for global wheat production by 3 million tons to 830 million tons (+4% of the 2024-25 figure). The corn production forecast for the current season has also been raised, but to a lesser extent – by 1 million tons to 1.298 billion tons (+5 to last season’s level).
The increase in global grain production was necessary because its consumption at the world level, according to the updated IGC forecast, will also increase to a new record of 2.4 billion tons (+2%). This is mainly due to increased demand for feed.
As reported by Logos Press, according to the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova, the production of cereals and legumes (without corn) in Moldova this year amounted to 1.88 million tons (+30%), including wheat – 1.59 million tons (+33% to last year’s level).
