Out of 4458 thousand farmer applications for subsidies received by the Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture AIPA last year, 239 were submitted by farmers from Cahul district, 235 from Briceni, 233 from Edinet, 226 from Hincesti, 206 from Orhei, 162 from Comrat. This leading group in the rating of beneficiaries of the National Fund for Subsidizing Agricultural Producers is followed by a large group of districts with smoothly decreasing activity of farmers in this field. The outsiders of the rating were the districts of Balti – 4, Dubasari – 35, Basarabeasca – 53, Vulcanesti – 56, Leova – 67. They accounted for slightly less than 5% of all applications for subsidies.
It is of interest that the subsidy process is more or less proportionally distributed in all three geographical zones of the country – north, center, south. According to the observations of suppliers of inputs for agricultural production, in particular, agricultural machinery, ten to twelve years ago
ten to twelve years ago, the most active applicants for the subsidy fund were farmers in the north, five to seven years ago – in the south of Moldova.
It is curious that in the structure of beneficiaries of the fund of agrarian subsidies the largest share (87%) falls on micro (2931 applications) and small (949) farms. Obviously, this was the result of the reorientation of the subsidy system specifically to these categories of agricultural producers, initiated several years ago by the MAIA Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
