The number of online transactions of the Russian bank in 2024 exceeded 52 billion, which allowed it to overtake JPMorgan, which had previously led the classification, RBC writes with reference to the press service of the bank. The third place in the rating is occupied by the Worldpay service.
Last year Sberbank accounted for 9.5% of all transactions in the world. RBC notes that in 2022, approximately the same share in acquiring accounted for seven Russian banks included in the ranking – 10.2%. But already in 2023, Sberbank came in second place in the world, and in this year became the leader.
“Our leadership in the global ranking is the result of many years of investment in our own development and infrastructure. Our fully domestic technology stack – from processing and terminal software to biometrics – confidently holds record transaction loads and ensures the highest level of security,” RBC quoted Sberbank President German Gref as saying.
In the current Nilson Report ranking of the 150 largest acquirers, six more Russian banks were included in the list, but they were not included in the top ten. The 42nd position was occupied by Alfa Bank (2.95 billion transactions), 44th in the rating was T-bank (2.5 billion), 53rd – VTB (1.96 billion), 65th – Gazprombank (1.4 billion), 85th – PSB (760 million), 93rd – Russian Standard (568 million).
