The match took place at the village stadium in Suruceni (Ialoveni district), where Politehnica-UTM temporarily hosts guests in the first phase of the Super League. Zimbru’s Lucian Radu opened the scoring in the 10th minute, and three minutes later midfielder Artur Sprincean forced Spartanii-Sportul goalkeeper Daniel Virlan to take the ball out of the net for the second time.
The experienced Danu Spătaru, who recently joined Spartanii-Sportul, converted a penalty in the 22nd minute and reduced the deficit. However, Artem Dizhinar, a pupil of Sheriff, restored the two-goal advantage in the 32nd minute, and 20-year-old Politehnica-UTM striker Serghei Dechev brought the score to 4:1 in the last minute of the main time.
Thanks to this victory “Politehnica-UTM” secured the penultimate place (see the standings), but 10 points separate it from the “saving” sixth position.
The victory was the first for the club for 17 years in the top league of Moldova. The previous time the “technicians” won in an official match was on April 20, 2008, in the 28th round of the National Division. Then the match with “Tiligul-Tiras” (Tiraspol) ended with the score 1:0. That year the club took the last, 11th place in the championship, after which it was announced that it would be disbanded.
