Moldovan President Maia Sandu congratulated all the citizens, noting that the future is created by its citizens, and when people act freely, the country itself is free.
In the morning, President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, ministers and MPs paid tribute at the monument “Sorrowful Mother” at the Eternity Memorial Complex. After that, the country’s leadership and the diplomatic corps laid flowers at the monument of Stefan the Great.
In the afternoon, official meetings will be held at the presidential residence. The three European leaders, together with Maia Sandu, will make statements to the press, and then address a message to citizens during a festive concert at the Great National Assembly Square.
Interior Minister Daniela Misail-Nikitin said that, given the high-level visits and the scale of the events, enhanced security measures have been taken, including airspace control and the use of unmanned devices to ensure order.
In the evening, a big festive concert will be held in the center of Chisinau. Zdob și Zdub, Irina Rimes, Magnat și Feoctist, Satoshi and Carla’s Dreams are scheduled to perform.
The state budget allocated 6 million lei for the organization of the concert.
It should be recalled that on August 27, 1991, Moldova’s first parliament adopted the Declaration of Independence by majority vote. This act included a significant part of the demands of the National Revival Movement of the late 1980s. The declaration of independence meant the separation of the current territory of the Republic of Moldova from the Soviet Union.
