ATU Gagauzia, where the share of the total industrial production in the country is the smallest (3.3%), ranks first among the development regions in terms of ability to promote its goods on foreign markets – 54% of all products produced last year were sold abroad.
The North and Center regions are also distinguished by their export orientation (44% and 43% respectively). The mun. Chisinau sells only about 23% of its products abroad, according to official statistics.
According to the NBS data, the domestic market has become the main consumer of domestically produced industrial goods in the conditions of industrial production decline. The value of manufactured industrial products (in current prices) in 2024 amounted to 86.0 billion lei, while shipped products amounted to 82.6 billion lei, of which 55.4 billion lei (67.1% of the total volume of shipped products) were supplied to the domestic market and 27.2 billion lei (32.9% of the total volume of shipped products) to the foreign market.
In 2024, the share of products supplied to the domestic market will amount to 67.1% of the total volume of products shipped (65.5% in 2023), and to the external market – respectively 32.9% (34.5% in 2023).
In terms of the value of products produced in 2024, the manufacturing industry is leading (83%), producing goods worth 71.7 billion lei (in 2023 – 73.5 billion lei). Of these, the food industry produced goods worth 24.6 billion lei (in 2023 – 28.2 billion lei), or 28.6% of the total value of produced goods.
