NEET youth will be introduced to the workplace

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, with the support of the German Government and GIZ Moldova, launches a campaign dedicated to supporting young people from Moldova to get a profession and get a job.

In the coming months, various activities will be organized throughout the country – career guidance camps, information sessions and an extensive online campaign aimed at informing young people about job opportunities and the services of the National Employment Agency.

“One out of 4 young people in Moldova does not work anywhere and does not undergo any form of education or professional training. And there are almost 140 thousand of such people in the country, falling into the NEET category, who need support and motivation to choose their future path, occupation, employment. Our responsibility is to provide them with these guidelines,” said Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu.

“Moldova’s future is in Europe, and it is important to actively shape this future. Especially among young people. An important condition for this is the understanding of their responsibility, the economic security of their country and their place on the labor market,” said German Ambassador to Moldova Margret Webber.

As an example, GIZ Moldova promotes equal opportunities and supports initiatives that encourage more active participation of women in mastering new professional niches with the call “Become a truck driver!”. Europe faces a severe shortage of professional drivers year after year. More than 150,000 jobs are vacant in the freight transportation sector alone.
