Vouchers worth 6,000 lei are distributed on the basis of data provided by households on the platform compensatii.gov.md. Priority is given to families with many children and with two or three elderly people over 63 years old. The coupon is valid only for a certain period.
The new batch of vouchers must be used between May 26 and June 15, in the partner network of stores when buying refrigerators or washing machines that meet the criteria of energy efficiency and European standards (CE). Eight retail chains with more than 80 stores nationwide are participating in the program. Under the terms of the program, users can cover up to 70% of the cost of new appliances, while they must recycle old appliances of the same type.
According to Energy Minister Dorin Jungietu, the program was developed during the energy crisis, when world prices reached record levels. It is a long-term solution for households to pay less for consumed electricity. At the same time, it contributes to the national goals of reducing energy losses and greenhouse gas emissions.
Ion Muntean, director of the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED), said that thanks to the EcoVoucher program, in addition to social support, there is a broader transformation of everyday consumption. In particular, there is a steady increase in the interest of families in energy efficiency and the long-term benefits of saving resources.
The EcoVoucher program is implemented by the Moldovan government with EU support. It is implemented by the National Center for Sustainable Energy within the project “Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for Moldova” (E4M). The program is financially supported by Germany, the EU, Norway and Denmark.
This phase of the EcoVoucher program is supported by Norway. This year, during the first two sessions, more than 10.6 thousand households received vouchers. And since the launch of the program, more than 25 thousand families have replaced old household appliances with new ones. In total, the program is expected to cover up to 32 thousand families.
