The document was signed by Labor and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu during a visit to Slovakia. According to the ministry’s website, the agreement gives Moldovan labor migrants access to European mechanisms for protecting their rights.
Moreover, the signing of this document enables Moldova to join the European network EURES, which supports the free movement of labor force in 31 states of the EU and the European Economic Area (EEA). The network brings together more than 1000 specialists in the European area who advise job seekers and provide them with legal support.
The signed agreement will allow Moldovans to get information about vacancies, working conditions and relocation opportunities, as well as will ensure the protection of their rights. The document also aims at strengthening cooperation in the field of labor mobility, coordination of social security systems and development of institutional capacities, which will create new prospects for Moldova on the EU labor market.
The agreement guarantees equal rights of Moldovan workers with EU citizens, facilitating their employment in Europe and protecting them from discrimination on the labor market. Moldovan citizens will be able to more easily obtain information on vacancies, working conditions and relocation opportunities, as well as benefit from legal support in case their rights are violated.
Labor Minister Alexei Buzu stressed that the agreement will be the basis for Moldova’s integration into the European labor space. “We want Moldovan workers to be protected, valued and have the same rights as EU citizens. Cooperation with the ELA is an investment in the future of our country, ” heemphasized .
