EFTA market has become more accessible

Moldovan business has gained access to duty-free export of goods to EFTA member states (Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein). The relevant agreement came into full force on April 1 this year, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization said.

“The free trade agreement with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) officially enters into force, which means an increase in exports to these countries and an inflow of investments from them,” the ministry’s press service said.

According to the ministry, Moldovan goods such as nuts, fruits, honey, oils, oilseeds, animal feed, wine, vegetables (onions, carrots, turnips, peas, dry beans), clothes and footwear, glass containers and plastic materials for packaging and construction are most demanded in EFTA countries.

The free trade agreement with EFTA was signed by Moldova in June 2023 and then gradually entered into force from 2024: from September for Iceland, from November for Norway, and from April 2025 for Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
