The joint training session was held as part of the project “Integrated Resilience: A Joint Approach to Challenges and Solutions in Emergency Situations,” implemented with financial support from the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Romania–Republic of Moldova 2021–2027 program.
More than 40 employees and volunteers from emergency response services in both countries participated in the event.
The practical portion of the training took place near a body of water in the city of Glodeni. Participants practiced a joint response to a simulated emergency caused by simultaneous flooding in several settlements. During the exercises, they tested procedures for assessing the situation, coordination among rescue teams, and the use of specialized equipment.
Subsequently, specialists from the Republican Training Center of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova conducted training on prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery from emergencies and disasters.
Participants noted that natural disasters do not recognize national borders, so an effective response requires close cross-border cooperation, direct communication between agencies, and standardized operational procedures. Joint practical exercises help reduce response times and improve coordination between the two countries’ rescue teams.
According to the Gloden District Council, the results of the exercises and training will be used to develop a joint response plan, which will subsequently be coordinated and approved by all project partners.
