One of the goals of the visit was to establish contact with the Latvian Center for Agricultural Consulting and Training. This center operates through a network of 26 regional branches. The work of its staff consultants is tailored to the specific agricultural focus of each region of the country. At two branches of the Latvian advisory center, the Moldovan working group had the opportunity to observe all stages of interaction between experts and their clients—farmers.
The visit’s program included tours of agricultural enterprises, including cooperatives, that receive consulting services from the center.
The experience gained in Latvia will be used by the CCAR to provide similar consulting services in Moldova, as well as to develop the AKIS electronic information platform for agriculture.
The study tour was organized as part of the “Sustainable Food Systems” initiative within the “Team Europe” project, funded by the European Union and the Czech Republic. The project is being implemented by the Czech Development Agency, the PL Solidarity Fund in Moldova, and the Latvian Center for Agricultural Consulting and Training.
