MOLDAC Will Change the Method for Calculating Accreditation Costs

The cost of accrediting laboratories and other organizations that verify the compliance of products and services with established requirements will be calculated using a new methodology. According to a proposal by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the amount will be determined based on the actual time spent, the resources used, and the complexity and specific nature of each organization’s work.

Currently, the calculation takes into account factors such as the number of employees, the number of departments or branches, and the number of calibration or testing methods used. Authorities note that in some cases, this system may determine a number of person-days that does not fully reflect the actual time required to conduct accreditation.

Following the introduction of the new methodology, revenue from accreditation activities could increase by approximately 5.7%—to 6.6 million lei.

On Monday, August 17, 2026, MOLDAC held a meeting of the Accreditation Council. At the meeting, it was noted that, according to MOLDAC’s preliminary analysis, no significant increase in costs for clients is expected.

The new provisions are scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027.

The change in methodology is also related to recommendations from European experts as part of the Republic of Moldova’s preparations for negotiations on the ACAA agreement regarding the mutual recognition of conformity assessment results for industrial products between Moldova and the EU.
