The repair work was comprehensive in nature and included the reconstruction of the road system—from replacing the road base to laying new asphalt pavement across the entire roadway of the streets.
At the same time, sidewalks on these streets were repaired, street lighting was completely modernized, utility networks were restored, and parking spaces were added.
On 31 August 1989 Street, a “green corridor” with bicycle lanes in both directions was created, which is part of the municipality’s efforts to develop infrastructure for alternative mobility in the capital’s center.
The reconstruction of these thoroughfares is being carried out as part of the second phase of the “Chisinau – City Roads” project, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the EBRD’s “Green Energy” Special Fund.
Currently, work is underway on 31 August 1989 Street to reconstruct the cobblestone pavement between Alexander Pushkin Street and Metropolitan Gavriil Banulescu-Bodoni Street.
The city administration continues its efforts to modernize the city’s infrastructure. At this stage, projects are underway to repair and modernize three major transportation arteries in the capital: Mircea cel Bătrân Boulevard, Mesager Street, and Industrială Street.
