A working meeting between the heads of the border and customs authorities of Moldova and Romania took place at the Leuşeni-Albita border crossing. The purpose of the meeting was to assess operations along the shared border, particularly with regard to coordinated controls, including an evaluation of the operational situation at the busiest border crossing between the two countries and the identification of the most effective solutions for optimizing cross-border traffic.

The participants reviewed the measures implemented during the summer season, which is characterized by a heavy flow of passengers and vehicles, and agreed on joint actions aimed at reducing wait times and ensuring a faster and more efficient border-crossing process.

A key topic of the meeting was the extension of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Romania on coordinated border control carried out on Romanian territory at the Leușen-Albita border crossing (which, unfortunately, is currently the only one). Thus, the term of the coordinated control mechanism will be extended from six months to one year, ensuring the continuity of a cooperation model that has proven effective in optimizing border control.
