The meeting was attended by representatives of the Department of Trade, Services, and Public Catering; the Police Department; district administrations; and tax service departments of the municipality of Chisinau, as well as senior officials from the State Tax Service.
Opening the meeting, Petru Griciuc, Deputy Director of the State Tax Service, noted the importance of strengthening cooperation among the agencies authorized to act in this area.
He emphasized that this would promote compliance with tax legislation, protect consumers, and maintain a competitive business environment.
During discussions regarding illegal activities in areas with a high risk of unauthorized street vending, experts analyzed preventive measures and identified joint actions to combat this phenomenon.
The participants agreed to continuously monitor such areas to ensure a fair and transparent business environment.
What the City Authorities Are Doing Today
Today, the city council is approving regulations that designate areas where street vending is prohibited—in the historic center, in parks, on sidewalks, near educational institutions, and near architectural landmarks.
City Hall organizes auctions to allocate spaces for legal mobile vendors (kiosks, stalls). This generates revenue for the budget.
In addition, the municipal police, together with representatives of the prefectures, regularly patrol the streets. Reports are filed based on the results of these patrols for trading without a permit, without business registration, or in violation of health and safety standards. Violators are fined.
