The initiative will help foster inter-university partnerships—including student and faculty exchanges, mutual recognition of qualifications, the implementation of joint research projects, as well as the mutual promotion of the Romanian language in India and Indian languages in Moldova.

The memorandum will transform the current dialogue into sustainable institutional cooperation and concrete projects that will enhance the appeal and quality of higher education in Moldova and India.

According to data from the Ministry of Education and Research, Moldovan higher education institutions admitted a record number of international students during the 2025–2026 academic year. A total of 1,113 young people from 24 countries were enrolled in higher education programs in our country. This is 376 more than last year.

In the previous academic year, 1,316 Indian citizens were studying in Moldova. To date, India remains the country with the greatest potential for attracting young people to study here.
