Apple’s market capitalization has exceeded $5 trillion for the first time in history

Apple shares rose 1.8% at the peak of trading, reaching $342.89 per share. According to the Wall Street Journal, this allowed the company’s market capitalization to temporarily surpass the $5 trillion mark. Later, the stock price corrected slightly, and the company’s market cap fell below that level.

Apple became the second company in history to reach such a valuation. Nvidia was the first to do so: its market capitalization reached $5.7 trillion in May, but since then, the company’s value has fallen by approximately $1 trillion amid shifting stock dynamics.

As of July 28, Apple remains in first place among the world’s largest publicly traded companies, notes RBC. The top five companies by market capitalization also include Nvidia, Alphabet, Microsoft, and Amazon.

Ranking of the largest companies by market capitalization:

  1. Apple — $4.94 trillion
  2. Nvidia — $4.71 trillion
  3. Alphabet — $3.99 trillion
  4. Microsoft — $2.93 trillion
  5. Amazon — $2.47 trillion

For Apple, this latest record marks another milestone in the company’s long-term growth. The company surpassed the $1 trillion market capitalization mark in August 2018, $2 trillion in August 2020, $3 trillion in January 2022, and $4 trillion in October 2025.

Apple’s valuation growth comes amid continued investor interest in the largest technology companies, which are expanding their presence in artificial intelligence, in-house chip development, and digital services. At the same time, competition for market leadership is intensifying. For example, Nvidia remains a key player in the field of AI accelerators, while Alphabet and Microsoft are actively investing in the development of their own artificial intelligence technologies.
