Cuiumju noted that at that time, while the public is being told there are no funds to raise salaries and pensions, and is being urged to accept increases in utility rates and taxes, the NBM leadership receives nearly 2 million lei each month in salaries alone, amounting to more than 20 million lei per year.
(To be precise, the salary of NBM Governor Anca Dragu, as stated in her 2025 income declaration, amounted to about 2.78 million lei per year, which is approximately 232,000 lei per month).
“At the same time, the institution ended 2025 with losses exceeding 873 million lei,” the lawmaker emphasized.
After reviewing the contracts published on the official platform achiziții.md, Constantin Cuiumju cited a number of examples of expenditures that, in his opinion, raise serious questions. These include a desk lamp costing 21,750 lei, a wooden swing for 39,166 lei, bedding, pillows, and curtains totaling nearly 90,000 lei, airline tickets, including business-class tickets, totaling over 540,000 lei; catering services costing more than 160,000 lei; and the organization of the annual report presentation, which cost more than 442,000 lei.
“These are not rumors or speculation. This is information from official documents published on the public procurement platform,” the lawmaker stated.
In this regard, Constantin Cuiumju reported that he had appealed to the Court of Auditors to conduct a full audit of these expenditures, as well as to the National Anti-Corruption Center to verify the legality of the procurements.
“Public funds must be spent responsibly, not squandered on questionable expenses. If citizens are expected to make sacrifices and cut back, then those who lead government agencies must set the example. People have the right to know how their money is being spent and who is accountable for every leu spent from the state budget,” stated Constantin Cuiumju.
