Iurie Ciocan
The politician made the comment after Speaker Igor Grosu announced on a public television channel that Anastasia Taburceanu, a relative of Maia Sandu and a former employee of the state-owned enterprise Moldatsa, had fully repaid all the money she had received while working at the company.
Cocan explained that if an employee receives 120,000 lei “in hand,” their gross salary amounts to approximately 164,000 lei. Of this amount, 44,000 lei is withheld from the employee, and another 47,000 lei is paid by the employer.
Therefore, “the cost of a single ‘net’ salary of 120,000 lei amounts to about 210,000 lei, of which approximately 91,000 lei goes to the budget in the form of taxes and contributions.”
“I would like to understand exactly what and in what amount Ms. Taburcan returned? Under which section of the law? And on what grounds did the company accept this money back?” Ciocan asks.
“Any money deposited into the company’s account, even if it is a ‘voluntary refund,’ is considered by the state to be income that is once again subject to taxation,” he adds.
