Gasoline and diesel prices will increase by 48 baht starting August 1

Fuel prices in Moldova continue to rise rapidly. As of today, the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) has set new price caps for gasoline with an additive at 15 bani—up to 28.53 lei, and for diesel fuel, an immediate increase of 44 bani—to 27.11 lei.

But that’s not all.

The National Agency proposes a one-time increase in the maximum retail prices for fuel effective August 1, by including a mandatory surcharge of 0.48 lei per liter of gasoline and diesel fuel in the markup. As noted in the ANRE’s request, the funds collected will be used to create emergency reserves of petroleum products.

The ANRE Board of Directors will review the draft decision on July 21.

ANRE believes that raising the maximum fuel prices is necessary due to the entry into force on June 30 of a new law on the security of petroleum product supplies. The new law requires the agency to include a 0.48 lei surcharge in the markup used to calculate the maximum prices for gasoline and diesel fuel.

As a result, the markup will increase from 3.82 lei per liter to 4.30 lei per liter, and for diesel fuel—from 3.84 lei per liter to 4.32 lei per liter.
