Farmacia Familiei increased its revenue to nearly 3 billion lei

Moldova’s largest pharmacy chain, Farmacia Familiei, increased its net profit by 12.7% in 2025—to 75.6 million lei—and its revenue by 13%, to 2.86 billion lei. This growth is attributed to the expansion of the chain and the growth of the pharmaceutical market as a whole.

According to the company’s financial statements, the number of Farmacia Familiei pharmacies increased from 244 to 264 over the course of the year. Over the next three years, the operator plans to invest 4.5 million lei in opening new retail locations, with the aim of increasing sales by approximately 14%.

Retail sales of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics continue to account for the bulk of the company’s revenue—96%. At the same time, the chain continued to develop its digital services: the number of participants in the Cardul Familiei loyalty program grew to nearly 570,000 people.

The chain’s rapid growth is taking place against the backdrop of consolidation across the entire pharmaceutical market. According to the Medicines Agency, in 2025 Moldova imported medicines worth 266.3 million euros—17 million euros more than the previous year. At the same time, the share of imported drugs in the domestic market increased from 91.6% to 92.9%, confirming the country’s continued dependence on foreign supplies.

Nearly 40% of medicines come to Moldova from European Union countries. Another 20% of imports come from India, 15% from Ukraine, 10% from Turkey, and 8% from China.

It is noted that household spending on medicines amounts to about 100 euros per person per year—five times less than in EU countries.

According to Logos Press, there are over 1,400 pharmacies operating in the republic, grouped into 22 pharmacy chains. Companies that own their own pharmacies traditionally hold the leading positions: Dita EstFarm (the Farmacia Familiei pharmacy chain), Felicia Grup (Felicia, Salut, Peon), and Tetis International (the Hippocrates pharmacy chain).

It should be noted that Farmacia Familiei is the largest retail player. The chain was founded in 2005 by Dita. In 2025, the retailer completed the acquisition of Sănătate Farm, becoming its legal successor.
