Moldova has simplified the process for Ukrainian refugees to enroll in vocational education institutions

The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) has simplified the admission process for Ukrainian refugees seeking enrollment in Moldova’s vocational and technical education institutions for the 2026–2027 academic year. Specifically, applicants will no longer be required to submit a notarized translation of their educational documents when applying.

Ministry representatives announced the new conditions at an informational meeting attended by Ukrainian civil society organizations, international partners, and the heads of colleges, vocational schools, and centers of excellence.

According to the MEC’s explanation, Ukrainian refugees will be able to apply for tuition-based spots under the same financial terms as citizens of the Republic of Moldova, paying tuition at the rates currently in effect for Moldovan citizens.

In addition, the ministry recommended that admissions committees waive the requirement to provide notarized translations of educational documents. To verify the authenticity of Ukrainian diplomas and certificates, educational institutions have been provided with an official electronic tool that allows them to conduct such verification without requiring additional procedures from applicants.

According to Silviu Gincu, head of the Department of Vocational and Technical Education Policy at the Ministry of Education and Research, the measures taken are aimed at removing administrative barriers and expanding Ukrainian refugees’ access to vocational education and their subsequent integration into the labor market.
