Wine production in Moldova increased by 53%

In 2025, the Moldovan wine sector showed growth in the main indicators. The harvest of technical grape varieties amounted to 259 thousand tons, which was higher than the initial forecast of 220 thousand tons. This was reported by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Andrian Digolian.

According to him, the result almost repeated the level of 2023, when 263 thousand tons were harvested. The authorities see this as a sign of stability in the industry.

All the harvested grapes were processed. The volume of processing also amounted to 259 thousand tons, which is 45% more than in 2024.

Winemakers received 18 million decaliters of wine

Total wine production in the country increased by 53% to reach 17.9 million decaliters. Growth was recorded in all major categories. The production of still wines amounted to 12.3 million decaliters, an increase of 31% compared to last year. Sparkling wines showed the most noticeable dynamics – 2.2 million decaliters – plus 122%. Wine distillate production increased to 5.6 million decaliters, up 143% year-on-year.

The ministry notes that the global market continues to change the structure of wine consumption. The overall volumes are decreasing, but the demand for higher quality products is growing. According to Andrian Digolian, Moldovan producers are adapting to this trend. Wine exports increased in value terms in all five categories, which indicates an increase in the average export price.

The ministry considers 2025 a favorable year for the sector due to the increase in harvest, growth in processing and expansion of wine production.
