In the final three stages, the UTM team won confident victories over the rivals from Sporting (5:2), Concept (6:2) and defeated the nearest pursuers – Sirius (8:7). This allowed Igor Mishin’s wards to strengthen their lead in the standings.
In the remaining matches of the final match day, within which three rounds were played, Sirius secured the second place, even despite the defeats from UTM (7:8) and Sporting (5:7). The silver medalists of the Moldovan championship played one more match, in which they defeated “Concept” with the score 7:3. “Sporting” took the upper hand over “Concept” in a face-to-face match (6:1) and finished third. “Concept” closed the standings and thus parted with the title of the reigning champion of Moldova, won in August 2024.
UTM coach Igor Mishin said that the upcoming continental beach rugby championship was also taken into account when preparing for the national championship matches. “We tried to work to the best of our ability to ensure that as many players as possible were ready for a call-up to the national team,” the specialist said.
All matches of the Moldovan beach rugby championship were held at the arena of the park “La Izvor” in Chisinau. This venue will host the European Beach Rugby Championship, which will be held in the capital from August 23 to 24.
