The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development has drafted a Government Decision approving a new technical regulation on noise emission to the environment from equipment intended for outdoor use. The document aims to harmonize Moldovan legislation with the EU Directive and to establish clear rules to limit noise pollution caused by various equipment. These include, for example: bush clearing machines, construction saws, washing and suction plants, jackhammers and concrete breakers, concrete and mortar feeding equipment, bulldozers, backhoe loaders, as well as lawn mowers, trimmers, etc.
The new regulations introduce, for the first time, the requirement for mandatory indication of acoustic power levels on products so that consumers can be fully informed before purchase. In addition, equipment will have to undergo mandatory conformity assessment and testing procedures before being placed on the market.
The draft also envisages the use of standardized noise measurement methods similar to those used in the European Union and the extension of the powers of market surveillance authorities, which will be able to inspect products and seize non-compliant goods. Operators of economic activities will be obliged to certify products, issue the necessary technical documentation and ensure correct labeling of equipment.
According to the authorities, these measures will contribute to reducing noise pollution and improving the quality of life of the population, especially in urban areas where noise from such equipment is a common problem.
