The Ministry of Defense reports on the work of sappers who carried out 20 demining operations and destroyed 113 explosive objects during April. Demining operations took place in cities and localities: Chisinau (Ivan Zaikin Street), Novi Anenii, Orhei, Straseni, Stefan-Voda, Leova, Criuleni, Dubasari, Ungheni, Causeni, Nisporeni, Ialoveni, Falesti and Cimislia.
“Finds” were discovered, according to the agency, in connection with spring agricultural works. For example, a suspicious object was found during road repair works in Gradinitsa, Causeni district. The road workers requested the assistance of military sappers, and after inspecting the area, two more 105-mm and 45-mm artillery shells, a TM-46 anti-tank mine and two RG-42 hand grenades were found.
From the beginning of the year to date, 37 demining operations have been carried out, resulting in the destruction of a total of 130 explosive devices of various types. All the munitions were destroyed safely at the National Army training grounds.
In connection with the increasing number of finds, the Ministry of Defense reminds of safety rules: if suspicious objects are found, it is strictly forbidden to touch them. If suspicious objects are found, they should be reported immediately by calling 112.
