The updated sanctions list was published by the UK Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI).

In addition to Wildberries and Yandex, the sanctions apply to Eurofinance Mosnarbank, Vyatich Bank, the Laotian Joint Development Bank, the company “A7 Agent,” as well as the insurance companies “Balans Insurance” and “Rosgosstrakh.”

According to Reuters, inclusion on the UK sanctions list entails the freezing of assets within the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom and a ban on providing financial services and economic resources to those subject to the restrictions.

The new measures are part of the latest package of sanctions aimed at increasing pressure on the Russian economy and financial system. London has been consistently expanding restrictions on Russia’s banking, energy, and logistics sectors since the start of the full-scale conflict in Ukraine.

This is not the first time WB Bank has faced international restrictions. In April, the bank was included in the European Union’s 20th sanctions package along with a number of other Russian financial institutions.

At the time of publication, Wildberries, Yandex, and other companies subject to the new British restrictions had not publicly commented on the UK government’s decision.
