“Hello, Moldova! My name is Amy Nye, and I am the new press officer at the U.S. Embassy. This is my first time in Moldova, and I am already impressed by the beauty of this country and the warmth of its people. My work has taken me to many corners of the world, and most recently I lived in Washington, D.C., where I studied Romanian. “I look forward to exploring Moldova with my family and trying traditional Moldovan dishes,” Nay noted in the statement.

As a reminder, on June 1, President Donald Trump’s administration officially nominated Joseph Burkhalter for the post of U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu emphasized the importance of the diplomat’s business experience for strengthening economic relations between the two countries.

To officially take office in Chisinau, the nominee must undergo a confirmation process through Senate hearings.

Currently, the U.S. diplomatic mission in Chisinau is headed by Chargé d’Affaires Nick Petrovich.
