Previously, makeshift stalls obstructed the passage of pedestrians, compromised hygiene standards and hindered access to the Cooperative and Commercial University and the ‘Polytechnic’ centre.
The clearing of the pavements is directly linked to the completion of major repairs to Gagarin Avenue, during which around 15,000 square metres of road surface were renewed. Modern infrastructure has been established in place of the unauthorised stalls: convenient footpaths have been laid, a dedicated cycle lane has been marked out, new green spaces have been created, and organised parking spaces have been provided.
The city administration emphasises that the revitalised public space has been integrated with elements of modern street furniture and seamlessly connected to the previously reconstructed Decebal Avenue.
To prevent the return of illegal traders, the relevant departments of the Centre Sector Prefecture have been placed on a permanent monitoring footing for this area.
