At the same time, imports from European Union countries accounted for 41.5% of the total volume of goods imported into the region.
The main export destinations are, first and foremost, Romania, Italy, and Slovakia. Imports come mainly from Ukraine, European Union countries, and China.
As noted in a report by the Bureau of Reintegration Policies, these figures clearly demonstrate that businesses in the settlements on the left bank of the Dniester and in the municipality of Bendery maintain economic ties with the European Union, which remains the largest foreign market for the region’s businesses.
“These figures confirm the Transnistrian region’s sustained orientation toward the EU trade area, which directly contributes to the country’s economic reintegration. This approach brings the two banks of the Dniester closer together economically, since access to the European market requires companies in the region to comply with the uniform rules, procedures, documentation requirements, and standards in effect throughout the Republic of Moldova,” the statement reads.
