“Ask all the builders: we have built 70-80% with loans taken by children, parents – everyone who brings money and at whose expense the sector develops,” Postolaki said at a public consultation in parliament.
He argues that the lack of new financing reduces the ability of young people to buy homes and could increase their exodus from the country.
“You MPs and the government say you are keeping young people in the country and giving them jobs. No, you are driving them out in this way. Young people who finish their studies and want to stay at home, near their parents, should get loans not at 7%, but at 3-4%. Then they will stay here, take out loans and start families,” he said.
He criticized the Ministry of Finance, saying that it is unable to find resources for the smooth continuation of the program.
“They have no money. And who did we elect to power? People who have no money? Resign! We need people who solve state problems. If they have no money, they should be removed from office tomorrow for making such statements,” Pavel Postolaki added.
Recall that the acceptance of new applications under the Prima Casă program was suspended from April 1, 2026 due to reaching the limit of budgetary allocations.
The Finance Ministry specified that if the application was submitted until March 31, 2026 and meets the established criteria, it will be approved and financed. Applicants will continue to receive compensation as usual.
Earlier, the chairman of the parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finance, Radu Marian, said that the authorities intend to improve the support mechanism for citizens willing to buy housing.
