Agrocereale experts believe that this may indicate the traditional for the end of the marketing year reduction of sunflower stocks for the 2024 harvest. At the same time, the average invoice price of sunflower shipped to foreign markets in May slightly increased to 11.74 lei/kg (11.57 lei/kg in April).
In this context, it is curious that during the first ten-day period of June more than 10 thousand tons of Moldovan sunflower were exported. That is, the export rate increased compared to the same period of the last month. However, the average price of exported goods decreased significantly – to 9.91 lei/kg.
In total, in the current marketing season (from July 2024 to May 2025 inclusive), Moldova exported more than 548 thousand tons of sunflower to foreign markets. This is the maximum indicator of its export for the last four years.
Turkey (231,500 tons), Romania (181,300 tons), Bulgaria (92,100 tons) are the largest buyers of Moldovan sunflower for the 2024 harvest.
